The Sherwin-Williams Management & Sales Training Program is an accelerated, entry-level position intended to prepare participants for a Store Management role in 18–24 months. After successfully completing the initial eight-week training, participants may progress to an Assistant Store Manager position. The typical schedule is 44 hours per week and may include evenings and/or weekends. Participants collaborate with store management to oversee a million-dollar business and contribute leadership and insight to the store’s development and strategy. The program teaches store operations, customer and client needs, and internal strategy. Participants also develop market share by selling high volumes of products to commercial customers, including painting contractors, purchasing agents, and manufacturers. The training program develops skills for a career in management and professional sales, including customer service, sales and marketing, finance, and operations. Participants receive structured development support, formal discussions about objectives and progress, leadership development, and opportunities to build relationships in the community. The role involves contact with customers, potentially including minors, and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, merchandise, and other valuable items. The company states that a criminal-history review is necessary to protect its business, operations, reputation, and the safety of customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the public.
