As the largest STEM camp provider in NYC with 4000+ campers annually, we are the Disney World of STEM education, where each learning experience is magical, impactful, and memorable. The Role Are you a maker educator driven by a passion for hands-on engineering, design-thinking, and mechatronics? Do you excel in designing learning experiences that inspire young minds through prototyping and experience design? If you’re continually exploring the best ways to nurture Generation Alpha and eager to lead such efforts, you might be the ideal candidate for our Maker Education Fabricator: Prototyping and Experience Design role.

Requirements

  • Include a portfolio of your maker projects in your application.
  • Explain the purpose and educational potential behind your creations.
  • Demonstrate fabrication work in electronics (circuits, motors), woodworking, 3D printing, laser cutting, Arduino, computing controllers and platforms (Raspberry Pi, Microbits), and coding tools like Scratch.
  • Deeply align with NORY's core values ('Ways of Being').

Nice To Haves

  • Coding knowledge will be an asset, especially for enabling older children to engage in advanced robotic projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabricate hands-on STEM camp projects in robotics, engineering, and woodworking, tailored for children aged 3-12.
  • Utilize your intellectual curiosity to integrate multiple learning domains into a unified, interdisciplinary experience that spans STEM and beyond.
  • Develop thematic worlds as immersive and engaging as a Disney World ride, leveraging your storytelling skills to enhance the educational impact.
  • Empower teachers across all NORY campuses to consistently deliver your vision, using your strong multi-channel communication skills, particularly in video formats.
  • Apply your deep understanding of children aged 3-12 to tailor projects to their developmental stages and interests.
  • Train and coach teachers to become the rock stars of our campsites, enabling them to effectively utilize the tools and projects you develop.
  • Utilize coding skills, especially for enabling older children to engage in advanced robotic projects.
