About The Position

This is an internal opportunity for current UML Employees. The position oversees and participates in the work of employees engaged in the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of buildings and related structures. Responsibilities include maintaining records of work progress, materials, and equipment used. There are potentially three open positions across two shifts: one on 1st Shift (Sun-Thurs) and up to two on 1st Shift (Tues-Sat). The core purpose is to oversee and participate in the maintenance and repair of state buildings and related structures.

Requirements

  • At least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in building maintenance, repair, and/or construction or in a building construction trade.
  • Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work, controlling work, determining training needs, and motivating subordinates.
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment and materials used in building maintenance and repair work.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in building maintenance and repair work.
  • Knowledge of standard preventive maintenance procedures for building structures.
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of small hand tools (e.g., pliers, chisels, hammers).
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of hand-held power tools (e.g., drills).
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of buildings and related structures.
  • Maintain records of work progress, materials, and equipment used.
  • Plan and assign work according to job nature, subordinate capabilities, and available resources.
  • Control work through periodic reviews and evaluations.
  • Determine subordinates' training needs and provide or arrange for training.
  • Motivate subordinates to work effectively.
  • Determine the need for disciplinary action and recommend or initiate it.
  • Perform standard preventive maintenance procedures for building structures.
  • Communicate instructions precisely and understandably.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.

Benefits

  • Bi-weekly pay ranging from $2,064.64 (Step 1) to $2,875.23 (Step 14).
