About The Position

The Delaware Avenue Enterprises warehouse facility offers food grade warehousing and logistic services for the breakdown, consolidation, and storage of tropical fruits, frozen food, and fresh meat products.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Cleaning & Upkeep: Daily cleaning of offices, breakrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, and common spaces. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and sanitizing high‑touch surfaces. Maintaining restrooms: replenishing soap, toilet paper, hand towels, and other consumables. Cleaning interior windows, doors, entryways, and high‑traffic areas. Servicing warehouse support offices, guard shacks, and mechanic spaces. Reporting building issues (leaks, damaged fixtures, lighting failures, etc.).
  • Supplies & Equipment: Monitoring and restocking janitorial supplies across all buildings. Operating and maintaining cleaning equipment (buffers, wet vacs, pressure washers, etc.). Requesting repairs or replacement of damaged equipment.
  • Oversight & Coordination: Planning daily/weekly cleaning schedules and routes. Responding to emergency cleanup needs (spills, flooding, waste issues). Communicating facility conditions directly to the Maintenance Operations Manager.
  • Grounds & Safety: Snow and ice removal using shovels, snow blowers, and de‑icing materials. Removing weeds, trimming overgrowth, and clearing debris from walkways, perimeter areas, and building fronts. Maintaining safe and clean walkways, ramps, stairways, and loading areas. Sweeping debris, picking up litter, and addressing safety hazards. Clearing drains, gutters, and inlets of debris to prevent water buildup or flooding.
  • Terminal Appearance: Ensuring all outdoor areas maintain a clean and organized appearance. Supporting cleanup after storms, high winds, or high‑traffic operations. Managing waste and recycling container areas, ensuring neatness and accessibility.
  • Tools & Safety: Safe operation of yard maintenance tools and light‑duty equipment. Conducting pre‑use equipment inspections and reporting issues. Following all PPE, safety, and port operational guidelines.
  • Plugging/Unplugging: Safely plugging in and unplugging refrigerated containers. Inspecting power cables, plugs, and outlets before use. Ensuring proper startup and shutdown procedures to protect reefer units and cargo.
  • Monitoring & Documentation: Conducting scheduled rounds to verify temperatures, alarms, and power status. Logging readings accurately in required systems or documentation. Promptly reporting abnormal temperatures or alarms to warehouse and supervisory staff. Tracking container IDs and reefer locations with accuracy.
  • Communication & Coordination: Communicating by radio with warehouse teams, yard personnel, and drivers. Coordinating placement and retrieval of reefers. Responding to priority reefer calls or temperature checks.
  • Safety & Site Control: Maintaining safe cable placement to prevent vehicle or foot hazards. Identifying damaged or unsafe equipment and escalating immediately. Keeping reefer rows orderly and accessible for operations and emergency response.
  • Must be willing to be cross‑trained in all job areas: Janitorial • Yard Work • Plugging
  • Lead by example and work collaboratively alongside port personnel
  • Provide daily communication to the Maintenance Operations Manager
  • Maintain strong safety awareness and a professional demeanor
  • Interact effectively with port staff, drivers, warehouse partners, and visitors
