About The Position
The Maintenance Technician performs routine and specific maintenance services, which may include grounds work. The role provides general maintenance and repair for the facility and its equipment, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment repair. The technician follows preventive maintenance instructions, completes requested reports, and helps ensure facility systems and equipment remain safe and operational. The position serves as a backup for the emergency call person and responds promptly and appropriately when needed. It also includes inspection and maintenance of emergency power equipment, fire alarm systems, extinguishers, lighting, and plumbing, as well as repair or refinishing of furniture.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in maintenance or facility operations is required.

Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs to the facility and equipment, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment repair or similar work.
- Serve as a backup for the emergency call person and respond to emergencies promptly and appropriately.
- Handle equipment safely to prevent accidents and use tools safely.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and instructions and complete reports as requested.
- Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment; test and start the generator weekly and maintain the equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the fire alarm system, including testing fire doors, audible and visible alarms, and smoke detectors, and record data on required forms.
- Check the condition and readiness of fire extinguishers monthly.
- Inspect and maintain the facility lighting system.
- Inspect and maintain plumbing systems; replace or repair faucets, toilet stools, urinals, traps, drains, basins, and bathtubs as needed.
- Repair or refinish furniture in rooms, offices, and the dining room as needed.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
