About The Position

The Maintenance Technician performs routine and specific maintenance services for a facility, which may include grounds work. The role involves general facility and equipment maintenance and repair, preventive maintenance, and inspection and upkeep of emergency, fire safety, lighting, and plumbing systems. The technician may also serve as a backup emergency call person and perform other assigned functions and tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in maintenance or facility operations required.
Knowledge of standard practices, procedures, and tools in general building and maintenance trades preferred.
Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance and repair of facility and equipment, including work involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment.
Act as backup for the emergency call person and respond promptly and appropriately when needed.
Handle equipment safely to prevent accidents and demonstrate safe use of tools.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Follow preventive maintenance schedules and instructions, and complete requested reports.
Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment; test and start the generator weekly and maintain related equipment.
Inspect and maintain the fire alarm system, including fire doors, audible and visible alarms, and smoke detectors; test the system and record data on required forms.
Check the condition and readiness of fire extinguishers monthly.
Inspect and maintain lighting throughout the facility.
Inspect and maintain the plumbing system; replace or repair faucets, toilets, urinals, traps, drains, basins, and bathtubs as needed.
Repair or refinish furniture in rooms, offices, and the dining room as needed.
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
