Maintenance Technician Hourly-Production (Culpeper VA)
About The Position
The Maintenance Technician assists with planned maintenance and safety initiatives for facility equipment and processes, helping protect employees’ health and safety. The role supports maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and improvements across the facility, including greenhouse structures, production equipment, PVC plumbing systems, electrical systems, and general housekeeping. It calls for basic to intermediate knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with a focus on irrigation, greenhouse maintenance, and production-equipment installation and repair. The technician performs and coordinates equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, installs and maintains equipment, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, and reports progress and problems to management. The position is full-time on the day shift in Culpeper–Stevensburg, Virginia, with a stated hourly pay range of $15.00–$20.00. Extended hours and weekend work may be required regularly during peak season.
Requirements
- Basic to intermediate experience working with and repairing electrical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends regularly during peak season.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Ability to drive maintenance equipment such as forklifts, bobcats, and electric carts; willingness to obtain certifications as needed.
- Ability to use smartphone technology, including apps, email, and text.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem solving.
- General, if not better than average, knowledge of power equipment, hand tools, and light carpentry.
- Ability to work independently and in a diverse team environment.
- Knowledge and experience with OSHA requirements and standards.
- Successful applicants must undergo screening for prohibited drug levels before employment, a background check, and E-Verify.

Responsibilities
- Assist with and organize repairs to mechanical equipment and machinery used in greenhouse operations as directed.
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance on plant equipment.
- Ensure mechanical systems are functional and reliable, and report issues to management.
- Install and maintain new equipment.
- Communicate daily task and assignment progress to management.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and/or electrical issues.
- Help ensure company safety policies and OSHA compliance programs are in place and followed.
- Support facility maintenance, repairs, upgrades, improvements, and general housekeeping, including greenhouse structures, production equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems.
