About The Position

The Maintenance Technician assists with planned maintenance for the facility and participates in safety initiatives covering facility equipment and processes to protect employees’ health, safety, and welfare. The role supports maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and improvements throughout the facility, including greenhouse structures, production equipment, PVC plumbing systems, electrical systems, and general housekeeping. It requires basic to intermediate knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with a focus on irrigation systems, greenhouse maintenance, and installing and repairing production equipment.

Requirements

• Basic to intermediate experience working with and repairing electrical and plumbing systems.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends regularly during peak season.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Ability to drive maintenance equipment such as forklifts, bobcats, and electric carts, and willingness to obtain certifications as needed.
• Ability to use smartphone technology, including apps, email, and text.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to perform under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem solving.
• General, if not better than average, knowledge of power equipment, hand tools, and light carpentry.
• Ability to work well independently and in a diverse team environment.
• Knowledge and experience with OSHA requirements and standards.
• Successful applicants must undergo screening for prohibited drug levels before beginning employment, a background check, and E-Verification.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish is highly desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and organize repairs to mechanical equipment and machinery used in greenhouse operations, as directed.
• Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance on plant equipment.
• Ensure mechanical systems are functional and reliable, and report issues to management.
• Install and maintain new equipment.
• Communicate daily task and assignment progress to management.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and/or electrical issues.
• Help ensure company safety policies and OSHA compliance programs are in place and followed.
• Assist with facility maintenance, repairs, upgrades, improvements, and general housekeeping.
