About The Position

JB & Associates operates Buff City Soap and Sun Tan City stores across several states and is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support facilities and equipment maintenance. The role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, and completes repairs to keep locations safe and operational. The technician works with the District Maintenance Manager, store leadership, and outside vendors to resolve maintenance issues, minimize downtime, and support renovations and equipment installations. The position requires regular travel throughout Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and South Dakota, with occasional evening or weekend responses to urgent maintenance needs.

Requirements

Working knowledge of building systems and general repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify repair needs, and recognize when specialized assistance is required.
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
Clear oral and written communication skills and ability to work professionally with store teams, vendors, and coworkers.
Ability to work independently, prioritize assigned tasks, and travel regularly across a multi-state market.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn work-order and maintenance software.
Willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and technology, including company-approved AI tools.
Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including climbing and working from ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting or moving equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more, using assistance or lifting equipment as appropriate, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment, including tanning equipment, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and production or soap-making equipment, within training and qualifications.
Troubleshoot maintenance issues and complete general repairs, including minor plumbing, lighting, fixtures, doors, hardware, painting, and other facility needs.
Respond promptly to assigned work orders and document work performed, materials used, and follow-up needs in the maintenance tracking system.
Inspect facilities and equipment to identify repair needs, safety concerns, and potential problems before they cause downtime.
Communicate repair status, delays, and issues requiring additional support to the District Maintenance Manager and store leadership.
Assist outside vendors and contractors by coordinating site access, explaining reported issues, and communicating work status.
Support store buildouts, renovations, equipment installations, and equipment moves as assigned.
Respond to urgent maintenance issues, including occasional evening or weekend needs.
Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and assigned company property in safe working condition.
Follow safety procedures, manufacturer instructions, and applicable requirements; refer work requiring specialized licensing or expertise to approved professionals.
Use materials responsibly and obtain approval for purchases and outside services according to company procedures.
