About The Position

At Texas Children’s Hospital, the Maintenance Technician III performs demand and scheduled preventive maintenance on facility equipment across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic tube, painting, and carpentry, along with associated systems. Work is performed in accordance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory agency codes and includes maintaining facilities and equipment in hospital or clinic environments. The position includes preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to help ensure safety and operational reliability for patients, staff, and visitors. Successful candidates must undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience as a general maintenance service-related technician.
• Undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on multiple systems and equipment to support a safe environment and operational reliability.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair facilities for the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
• Repair failed equipment according to established standards and within acceptable timeframes.
• Troubleshoot and solve maintenance problems involving multiple systems and equipment.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of multiple pieces of equipment and associated systems, basic electrical knowledge and meter usage, and knowledge of fire extinguisher designations and usage.
• Ensure work products meet expected criteria.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers and complete activities to maximize effectiveness while minimizing customer impact.
• Create and process purchase orders.
• Maintain assigned craft inventory according to standards for orderliness, labeling, and quantity.
• Demonstrate positive, responsible leadership and guidance.
