About The Position

The Maintenance Technician II performs general installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for museum buildings and grounds, with a specialized focus on HVAC system technology, maintenance, and repairs. The position reports to the Buildings and Grounds Assistant Manager and Head of Operations. It is a full-time, hourly role paying $22–$24 per hour based on experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of general building maintenance experience, or 4 years of general experience including at least 1 year focused on HVAC.
Ability to pass a physical exam.
Ability to lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces or outdoor environments.
Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Computer literacy.

Nice To Haves

Two-year HVAC degree.
EPA/Universal certification.
TDLR licensing, HVAC Excellence certification, or NATE certification.

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and monitor their performance.
Perform preventive HVAC maintenance, including greasing bearings and changing filters and belts, and recommend preventive maintenance schedules.
Use Web Control and I-VU systems for HVAC environmental monitoring.
Perform minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
Handle painting, wall repairs, plastering, flooring, roofing, and concrete flatwork.
Maintain fencing, gates, fountains, ponds, and related mechanical equipment.
Assist with furniture setup, assembly, dismantling, and cleanup for museum events as needed.
Generate and maintain work orders, reports, logs, and maintenance records.
Secure tools, equipment, and supplies during use and storage.
Operate and maintain company vehicles for parts pickup and delivery.
