The Utah State University Bastian Agricultural Center is seeking a dependable and hardworking Maintenance Technician I to support agricultural operations and facilities. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining grounds, equipment, and event spaces in a dynamic, outdoor environment. Requirements

  • Aptitude and/or relevant experience in maintenance, facilities, or agricultural work
  • Valid driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work site
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and plan solutions.
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs regularly, stand, bend, or kneel for long periods, and work in extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work in conditions that may include dust, noise, odors, and varying weather

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and manual labor, including cleaning stalls, fencing setup, landscaping, and debris removal
  • Assist with setup and takedown for agricultural events and activities
  • Operate equipment such as tractors, loaders, and mowers for field work, and material handling
  • Complete basic repairs and preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
  • Maintain clean, safe, and functional facilities, including barns and outdoor areas
  • Follow all safety procedures and comply with university regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
