About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to support the operations of a non-profit commercial building. This role performs maintenance duties and oversees housekeeping functions to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment that supports the organization’s mission and daily activities.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of building systems: generators, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
Physically capable of handling heavy cleaning equipment
Good communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Language skills sufficient to complete FDNY Fitness Tests related to fire and life safety systems
Valid NY or NJ Driver’s license required

Supervisory experience in maintenance and/or housekeeping preferred

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and schedule, housekeeping staff
Perform and coordinate maintenance tasks--including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and flooring
Oversee use and care of cleaning and maintenance equipment
Ensure proper operation of building mechanical systems: generators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, HVAC, and elevators
Step in to perform duties when staff are absent or operational needs require
Conduct routine inspections and address maintenance issues promptly
Ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations, including FDNY and DOB requirements
Assist in Fire and Emergency Drills
Maintain records and reports using Microsoft Office and other software employed by the organization
