This position performs both skilled and semi-skilled repair and maintenance tasks across several trades to support the safe and efficient operation of machinery, buildings, and equipment, with a primary focus on carpentry. The work requires technical independence and adaptability as assignments change based on daily facility needs.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance (required after conditional offer of employment)
  • Medical examination (required after conditional offer of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, plaster, painting, air conditioning, and refrigeration specialties
  • Install, maintain, and repair a wide range of facility equipment, including pumps, generators, heating systems, and electrical components
  • Repair doors, flooring, and furniture, fabricate partitions, and operate woodworking tools and trucks for facility needs
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces and complete masonry tasks on buildings, foundations, walks, and walls
  • Remove snow, cut grass, and operate basic grounds equipment to maintain safe outdoor conditions
  • Operate stretchers, transport vehicles, mini-vans, and wheelchair vans for resident trips
