About The Position
The Maintenance Repairman 2 position with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) offers the exciting opportunity to use advanced trade skills in a hands-on, rewarding environment. You will help build and repair structures that support transportation across the region. This role provides meaningful work and the chance to grow your abilities through a variety of tasks. This role focuses on performing skilled construction, repair, and maintenance work that supports transportation operations. You will work with tools, materials, and structural components to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
- Ability to perform essential job functions
Responsibilities
- Tie rebar, pour concrete, build forms, and complete waterproofing tasks
- Measure, cut, place materials, and perform framing and finish carpentry
- Operate motorized and non-motorized tools including chainsaws, jack hammers, tampers, and mowers
- Maintain awareness of work areas, report injuries and hazards, and use protective equipment
- Follow attendance rules, observe work schedules, and support overtime emergency responses
- Implement environmental protection requirements and attend designated environmental training
