About The Position

Join the Department of Human Services (DHS) as a Maintenance Repairman 2 and support the daily operations of Wernersville State Hospital. This position gives you the chance to use many different trade skills while improving the facility for some of Pennsylvania's most vulnerable residents. This position helps maintain hospital buildings, equipment, and public areas by completing skilled repair, construction, and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
Meet the PA residency requirement
Be able to perform essential job functions
Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance
Submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports

Responsibilities

Perform building maintenance, preventative work, and needed repairs across hospital property
Install and maintain plumbing, electrical components, drywall, framing, and related materials
Measure, cut, build, and install items such as trim, doors, windows, and masonry work
Operate and maintain tools and equipment needed for carpentry, masonry, and repair work
Complete scheduled checks, filter changes, inspections, and preventative tasks
Remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots using basic snow removal equipment
