About The Position

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking an enthusiastic tradesperson to join the Delaware Forest District as a Maintenance Repairman 2. This role is responsible for ensuring all district facilities are well-maintained and functioning smoothly. The position involves a wide range of projects aimed at improving safety, visitor experiences, and overall forest operations. The successful candidate will contribute to the stewardship of Pennsylvania's natural resources through their craftsmanship and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Repair building structures, paint facilities, and complete masonry, roofing, plumbing, and electrical tasks.
  • Plant seedlings, apply herbicides, maintain tree shelters, and support wildlife and regeneration projects.
  • Operate and maintain trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles, and spray equipment used in forest management.
  • Patrol for wildfires, assist with suppression efforts, and participate in prescribed fire activities.
  • Assist with search and rescue efforts, purchasing tasks, training programs, and district operations.
  • Cut grass, remove snow, repair fencing, and maintain public water wells.
