About The Position

Join the Southeastern Veterans' Center Maintenance Department at the Southeastern Veterans' Center as a Maintenance Repairman 2 and play a key role in keeping our facility in top shape. This position gives you the chance to work with many different repair tasks that support the daily needs of residents and staff. You will use a wide range of skills to solve problems and complete important projects. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and making a real difference.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring including emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as it relates to repair of buildings
  • Experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings at a long term care facility

Responsibilities

  • Fix doors, furniture, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and other facility features
  • Service heating units, air conditioning systems, refrigeration equipment, and cooking equipment
  • Install partitions, prepare surfaces, paint interiors, and repair building structures
  • Trim trees, cut grass, remove debris, and perform seasonal outdoor maintenance
  • Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and use required protective equipment
  • Clear walkways and parking areas using shovels, snow blowers, and other equipment

Benefits

  • Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).
