About The Position

The Maintenance Repairman 2 provides skilled maintenance and repair services supporting daily operations at Norristown State Hospital. The work spans several trades and helps keep facilities and equipment dependable and safe. The position performs plumbing and heating repairs, minor electrical and mechanical repairs, carpentry and construction, painting and finishing, and operation and maintenance of hand and power tools. It also involves completing forms accurately, observing safety precautions, and maintaining clean and orderly work areas. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a schedule of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel may be required as needed. The position is not eligible for telework.

Requirements

Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or four years of building and plant maintenance experience involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

A conditional offer requires a medical examination and satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearances, subject to approval.

Responsibilities

Repair piping, fixtures, valves, temperature controls, and related plumbing and heating systems throughout the facility.
Make minor electrical and mechanical repairs to lighting, machinery, and distribution equipment.
Remodel surfaces, build structures, and prepare and finish materials for durable use.
Prepare surfaces, mix materials, and apply paint, stain, or wallpaper to interior and exterior areas.
Safely use and maintain a wide range of hand and power tools.
Complete forms accurately, follow safety precautions, and keep work areas clean and orderly.
