The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) seeks an energetic Maintenance Repairman 2 who enjoys hands-on work and a fast-paced environment at Fort Indiantown Gap. Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience in commercial carpentry
  • Experience in the plumbing trade
  • Experience in the electrical trade field
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration or HVAC systems
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as they relate to repair of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings

Responsibilities

  • Install ceilings, sheet rock, flooring, and structural features, and complete repairs to walls, windows, roofs, and insulation
  • Install and repair toilets, faucets, showers, sinks, pipes, valves, seals, and other plumbing fixtures
  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces, mix paint, and apply coatings to walls, floors, ceilings, trim, doors, and signs
  • Change filters in units, complete minor service tasks, and support the proper function of heating and cooling systems
  • Replace switches, receptacles, ballasts, and light bulbs, and run wire or conduit when needed
  • Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, plant flowers, and keep walkways and outside areas free of debris
  • Follow all DMVA safety rules, report incidents, and correct hazards to maintain a safe work environment
