As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will help ensure that the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center remains a welcoming environment. Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
  • Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience repairing heating lines and fan coil units
  • Experience in plumbing repairs
  • Experience in electrical repairs
  • Experience maintaining and repairing air conditioning and heating units

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing doors and furniture, fabricating partitions, and using power tools
  • Install and repair electrical circuits, outlets, lighting fixtures, fans, and motors
  • Repair plumbing fixtures, clear clogged drains, and install pipe for water and steam lines
  • Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration units of various types
  • Cut grass, trim shrubbery, perform landscaping tasks, and clear snow and debris from outdoor areas
  • Follow safety procedures, report hazards, maintain tools, and support facility quality improvement efforts
