About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. This role involves working with various mechanical and electrical systems, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing, as well as electrical systems and troubleshooting. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining equipment inventories, preparing reports, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment. This role is crucial for minimizing downtime and maintaining production efficiency.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Prior field related experience
Ability to pass required company tests; required to maintain and show proficiency during probationary training
Licensed Electrician
PLC troubleshooting
Programing experience
Previous experience in electrical engineering or other related fields
Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals
Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Solid understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing
Proficient in reading and writing
Adhere to all quality and safety codes

Welding and cutting skills preferred

Responsibilities

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
Controls downtime by conducting routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Performs routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems.
Troubleshoots motor and control systems.
