Requirements

  • Direct supervision/management of all maintenance personnel, including hourly employees.
  • Joint decision-making with senior management regarding equipment downtime.
  • Utilize downtime analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records for costing and invoicing.
  • Source parts and components.
  • Participate in technology implementation for productivity and quality improvement.
  • Ensure personnel are fully trained.
  • Conduct monthly performance appraisals.
  • Prepare and adhere to an annual operating budget.
  • Implement cost reduction measures.
  • Enforce health and safety rules and housekeeping principles.
  • Review accident investigation reports and ensure corrective actions.
  • Establish and monitor procedures for manufacturing efficiencies and profitability.
  • Participate in employee involvement and continuous improvement teams.
  • Advise management on potential problems and solutions.
  • Meet business plan objectives.
  • Assist in developing job descriptions.
  • Conduct interviews and provide new employee orientation.
  • Issue customer concern reports when necessary.
  • Follow departmental and general procedures.
  • Abide by all company safety rules, responsibilities, policies, and procedures, including OHSA requirements.
  • Work in compliance with ISO14001 and IATF16949 standards.
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen principles; participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision/management of all maintenance personnel, including hourly employees.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in solving maintenance-related problems and/or new projects with minimum interruption to production.
  • Analyze equipment downtime to identify problem causes and assess corrective action effectiveness, using this information to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and lower costs.
  • Estimate, schedule, and execute a preventative maintenance program for all equipment, ensuring compliance with customer, government, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for costing and invoicing.
  • Design, recommend, and supervise/coordinate in-house and/or sub-contracted modifications to equipment to improve production and/or quality.
  • Source all parts and components required for equipment maintenance and improvement.
  • Actively participate in the design, development, and/or implementation of the latest technologies to improve productivity and/or quality.
  • Coordinate and participate in all maintenance personnel training to ensure full competency with changing technologies, customer, government, health, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct monthly performance appraisals and reviews with maintenance personnel.
  • Prepare and adhere to a departmental operating annual budget in accordance with company strategies and objectives.
  • Continuously seek and implement cost reduction measures.
  • Ensure and enforce maintenance personnel compliance with all health and safety rules and housekeeping principles.
  • Review accident investigation reports and ensure appropriate action is taken to prevent future accidents and eliminate immediate and basic causes.
  • Establish and monitor overall procedures, methods, projects, and programs designed to improve manufacturing efficiencies and company profitability.
  • Actively and continuously participate in and provide expert advice to employee involvement teams and continuous improvement teams.
  • Advise management of all potential problems and offer solutions for improvement.
  • Exceed or meet all objectives/requirements of the business plan.
  • Assist in the development of job descriptions for maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct interviews during the hiring process and ensure new employees receive an orientation.
  • In the event of receiving a customer concern (verbal or electronic) while on shift duty, issue a customer/concern report and include the Production Manager and QA Manager in distribution. Depending on the magnitude of the concern, may contact the Production Manager and/or QA Manager at home.
  • Follow all departmental and general procedures where applicable.
  • Perform other duties determined by the Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
  • Abide by all company safety rules, responsibilities, policies, and procedures, including the legislative requirements of the OHSA.
  • Work in compliance and conform to ISO14001 and IATF16949 standards.
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen principles; participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities.
