About The Position

This is an entry-level position during which an employee receives both functional and organizational training under close supervision. Incumbents carry out assignments within well-defined practices, procedures and policies. Works independently on details of assignments, and has limited decision-making authority; most decisions are made or guided by the immediate supervisor. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department's/divisions goals. Works under close Supervision and requires direction on how assignments are to be executed; begins to put forward ideas on how work assignments are completed. Establishes cooperative relationships to work effectively with colleagues; supports others and participates as a team member, and takes responsibility for own work commitments. Interacts directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored.

Requirements

  • General understanding of facility operations and related issues and requirements.
  • Strong record keeping and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers.
  • General understanding of basic computer applications.
  • General knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical preferred
  • Duties of the position are performed in generally good working conditions with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
  • Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
  • Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects over 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift
  • Zero to two years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains log sheets, inspection records, computer monitoring data and other record keeping systems as required by the specific program areas.
  • Participates in and provides leadership to safety committees, coordinates activities of subcommittees in specific areas.
  • Documents meetings and implements tracking and reporting methods.
  • Provides information and guidance to employees on safety and ergonomic issues.
  • Conducts accident/incident investigations to determine cause.
  • Recommends and implements corrective measures, performs repairs and monitors results.
  • Selects and manages contractors and vendors to obtain and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
