About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role involves monitoring equipment during production, making necessary repairs or adjustments, and performing preventive maintenance. The Maintenance Generalist will also assist with equipment rebuilds, new equipment installations, and general maintenance throughout the facility. This role requires manual tasks such as greasing, oil changes, and cleaning plant equipment, as well as troubleshooting mechanical problems using schematics and blueprints. The position may require working other shifts when necessary and close collaboration with other maintenance personnel. Attention to detail is crucial when working with fragile devices.

Requirements

  • At least 3 months of maintenance experience (enrollment in a maintenance/mechanical program can be considered in lieu of experience).
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Capable of moving equipment, machinery, etc., in excess of 40 pounds when needed.
  • Ability to work on and inspect equipment, which may involve bending, turning, stooping, twisting, and climbing.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the plant over and around equipment, people, and other obstacles.
  • Ability to tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
  • Ability to communicate and get along well with others.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to reach, lift, and work overhead.
  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for the duration of the shift.
  • Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules (ie. Lockout/Tagout).
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets.

  • Assisting with the installation of new equipment.

  • Monitoring equipment and computer boards.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical problems using detailed schematics and blueprints.
  • Working other shifts when necessary.
  • Understanding and following Safety Rules (e.g., Lockout/Tagout).
  • Complying with OSHA standards.
  • Working Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Working closely with other maintenance personnel to exchange information.
  • Working with fragile devices requiring precise attention.
  • Performing other duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Completing mandatory online training.
