About The Position

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The Maintenance Generalist will perform various positions as required/assigned and maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture. Training will be provided as required.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
  • Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
  • 1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
  • Able to read & understand assignments
  • Able to communicate orally & in writing
  • Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
  • Basic knowledge of math
  • Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good oral communication skills to discuss issues with the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Needs to be able to understand information contained in Maintenance manuals
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • At least 6 months of continuous employment within the last 2 years
  • 1 year of industrial maintenance/mechanical experience
  • Complete the final task separate from the application
  • Complete any tasks that are awaiting if application has not been fully submitted

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
  • Receive training as required
  • Perform various positions as required/assigned
  • Perform general maintenance throughout the plant
  • Adhere to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Use basic hand tools
  • Perform welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing and replacement of motors, motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems
  • Monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler
  • Read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems
  • Operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
  • Further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training
