About The Position

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The Maintenance Generalist will perform various positions as required/assigned and maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture. Training will be provided as required.

Requirements

Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
Able to read & understand assignments
Able to communicate orally & in writing
Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
Able to lift 50 pounds
Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
Able to stand for long periods of time
Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
Basic knowledge of math
Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good oral communication skills to discuss issues with the Maintenance Supervisor
Needs to be able to understand information contained in Maintenance manuals
Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
At least 6 months of continuous employment within the last 2 years
1 year of industrial maintenance/mechanical experience

Perform welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing and replacement of motors, motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems
Monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler
Read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems
Operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
Further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training
