About The Position

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Monitors the equipment during production and makes any necessary repairs or adjustments. Documents any corrections required. Rebuilds equipment as required. Assists with installation of new equipment. Assists with maintenance throughout the entire facility as required. Manually able to grease, change oil, and clean various plant equipment. Monitor equipment and computer boards. Trouble-shoot mechanical problems using detailed schematics and blueprints. Work other shifts when necessary. Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules (ie. Lockout/Tagout). Must be able to comply with OSHA standards. Work very closely with other maintenance personnel in order to receive and pass along information concerning the job. Must be able to work with other devices that are very fragile and require precise attention. All other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
  • Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
  • 1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
  • Able to read & understand assignments
  • Able to communicate orally & in writing
  • Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
  • Basic knowledge of math
  • Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
  • Must have 6 months of continuous employment within the last 2 years
  • 1 year of industrial maintenance/mechanical experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good oral communication skills to discuss issues with the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Needs to be able to understand information contained in Maintenance manuals
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Work with fragile devices requiring precise attention
  • Perform duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing/replacement of motors, motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems
  • May monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler
  • May be required to read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems
  • Be certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
