Maintenance & Facilities Lead-Cedar Rapids
About The Position
The Maintenance & Facilities Lead is a hands-on role responsible for keeping Affordable Housing Network properties, equipment, and systems safe, functional, and well maintained. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, the Lead helps coordinate ongoing maintenance needs and projects while providing guidance and support to other maintenance team members. The position covers preventative maintenance, inspections, building repairs, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, property upkeep, custodial needs, equipment setup, inventory, purchasing, and supply coordination. It offers varied day-to-day work and the opportunity to support safe, reliable, affordable homes in the Cedar Rapids community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and prior experience maintaining facilities, or equivalent maintenance and facilities-related experience.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on facilities, vehicles, equipment, and building systems.
- Complete and assist with city, housing, HUD, compliance, and other required inspections.
- Inspect completed projects to ensure work meets quality standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Troubleshoot and complete general building repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain and repair heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Complete general property upkeep, including painting and repairs to walls, windows, doors, and other building components.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and hands-on support to other maintenance team members.
- Partner with the Facilities Manager on project planning, priorities, and day-to-day facility needs.
- Maintain assigned buildings, including custodial needs and equipment setup.
- Monitor storeroom inventory and coordinate the ordering and delivery of supplies.
- Pick up and deliver donations, materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Maintain current supplier, vendor, and system repair contact information.
- Track purchases, provide receipts, and reconcile invoices with delivered materials.
