About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer carries a portable radio and stays in communication with the central base station while responding to engineering service calls, prioritizing guest requests. The role maintains hotel equipment efficiently, safely, and without accidents. It performs preventive maintenance and repairs across hotel systems and equipment, monitors engineering functions when the full engineering staff is unavailable, and responds to emergencies. The position also inspects the property, keeps equipment and work areas clean, maintains logs and work orders, and reports unsafe conditions.

This is a part-time position paying $19.00 per hour. The job is scheduled for AM/PM shifts and offers free parking. The job posting closes November 27, 2026, or when filled.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent trade school, with special courses in building maintenance and construction.
• At least 6 months of successful experience in an equal or similar position.
• Ability to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment, and perform carpentry, repair, construction, and renovation work.
• Ability to maintain logs and records.
• Professional presentation and ability to work in a team environment and make independent decisions.
• Ability to hear portable radios, fire alarms, machinery, and guests; inspect and maintain equipment; and respond by portable radio to the base station and guests.
• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying; bending and kneeling; full mobility to respond quickly to emergencies; and potential continuous standing.
• Ability to climb approximately 90 steps, climb ladders approximately 8 feet high, and drive a company pickup truck or snowplow when necessary.

• Ability to drive a pickup truck and snow-removal equipment may be required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest requests courteously, efficiently, and safely.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical systems, and guest rooms.
• Monitor and maintain engineering functions when the full engineering staff is unavailable, such as on weekends and evenings.
• Respond to emergencies, including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters, and power failures, and notify appropriate authorities.
• Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is working properly.
• Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
• Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and meter readings, and maintain logs for the next shift.
• Document parts used and parts that need to be purchased.
• Handle elevator breakdowns.
• Maintain records for the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and Request Program.
• Complete work order request forms daily and promptly.
• Report unsafe conditions to leadership.
