About The Position

The Maintenance Electrician performs varied electrical, basic control and instrument, and basic mechanical maintenance activities necessary to maintain an assigned generation facility and high-voltage substation. The role supports plant safety, reliability, productivity, and efficiency while carrying out work according to established procedures and safety practices.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Journey level in the electrical trade.
Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
Skills in basic mechanical work and basic instruments and controls.
Knowledge of theory and skills in non-structural welding.
Mechanical comprehension.
Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
Familiarity with steam plant cycles and operations.
Technical ability.
Knowledge of company safety rules.
High degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
Strong leadership ability.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, clean, inspect, and construct electrical and basic mechanical equipment and systems for the generation facility.
Maintain electrical equipment at an electric generating station and high-voltage substation.
Maintain and install basic plant control systems.
Maintain and calibrate equipment and systems, and assist with required testing.
Process necessary documentation.
Operate or obtain information from basic mechanical and electrical devices used for equipment diagnostics and work activities; gather, interpret, and log data.
Use powered and hand tools as job needs dictate.
Participate in continuous improvement activities supporting safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency.
Perform housekeeping functions in generating plant and shop areas.
Perform all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
Perform other duties that are similar, related, or incidental to the position.
