About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for restoring vacated apartments to market-ready condition and completing service requests in a timely manner. The role supports other maintenance staff, helps with property inspections, maintains parts and equipment inventory, and provides customer service to residents. The assistant may assume the Lead Maintenance responsibilities in the lead's absence and may be required to work at other Foundation Communities properties or supportive housing communities in the Austin area. The position requires on-call availability.

Requirements

2–4 years of practical experience demonstrating the required skills.
Ability to work on moderately complex assignments requiring judgment to resolve problems and make routine recommendations.
On-call availability.
Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including standing and walking, bending, pushing and pulling, reaching, climbing, and lifting.

Nice To Haves

Make-ready experience and a good understanding of pools, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Fair housing training and Apartment Maintenance Technician certification.
Additional certifications, such as HVAC.
Knowledge of OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

Restore vacated apartments to market-ready condition and clean vacant apartments.
Complete service requests in a timely manner.
Maintain and monitor parts, supplies, and equipment inventory.
Provide support to other maintenance staff.
Participate in quarterly property inspections.
Remove trash from outside each shift.
Assist Lead Maintenance as needed and assume Lead Maintenance responsibilities in their absence.
Provide excellent customer service to residents.
Work at other Foundation Communities properties in the Austin area as needed.
Be on call.
Perform other duties as assigned.
