About The Position

The Maintenance Apprenticeship Program is designed to prepare highly talented, self-motivated individuals for future maintenance careers with AUMOVIO. The two-year apprenticeship offers AUMOVIO employees the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree in Advanced Manufacturing while gaining hands-on maintenance experience and professional development. During the program, participants will work in a hands-on automotive manufacturing environment, learning through real-world application of their education. This includes developing technical skills in electrical, robotics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and industrial troubleshooting. The program also covers core manufacturing concepts such as safety culture, visual workplace organization, lean manufacturing, problem-solving, and machine reliability. The Maintenance Apprenticeship program requires a minimum of 32 hours per week at the AUMOVIO New Braunfels, TX facility to maintain full-time employment status. The Maintenance Apprentice will apply formal education to on-the-job learning and implementation within the AUMOVIO work environment, tackling assignments and projects relevant to their assigned business unit. Apprentices will receive semester and final evaluations of their on-the-job performance to review current progress, goals, and development needs. Upon successful completion of the program, the incumbent will be eligible to apply for a Maintenance position at AUMOVIO New Braunfels, TX.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months of employment with AUMOVIO.
  • Highly motivated for a future career in the field of Maintenance at AUMOVIO New Braunfels, TX.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in Advanced Manufacturing Associate's Degree program.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 32 hours per week on an adjusted schedule while being enrolled as a full-time college student pursuing a degree in Advanced Manufacturing, with in-person classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Email).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex machines and investigate malfunctions to root cause.
  • Use schematics, machine specifications, manuals, and standard operating procedures to determine tasks.
  • Perform regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and systems.
  • Prevent breakdowns through scheduled servicing.
  • Follow workplace safety standards (OSHA guidelines).
  • Support efforts to meet line product DPMO, OEE, and Scrap goals, and equipment MTBF goals.
  • Participate in the advance process and quality planning (APQP) activities for new equipment.
  • Be proactive and promote teamwork between technicians and production operators.
  • Interface (support, assist, negotiate, consult) with engineers, peers, operators, supervision, and management.
  • Understand and comply with all procedures pertaining to a given work environment; assist in designing improvements to the work environment.
