About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been delivering exceptional service since 1957 and stands as one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are currently seeking a qualified individual with industry or related experience to join our team! Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering. The Maintenance Apprentice will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance. All applicants must successfully pass HBM prescreen check, valid Hawaii driver’s license, reliable vehicle, some hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Requirements

  • Must pass an HBM prescreen
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required
  • General maintenance experience
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Previous experience in creating and maintaining work orders and purchase orders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow
  • Proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting
  • Tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations

Responsibilities

  • Conducting preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, including: Basic plumbing and electrical work, Mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), Painting, drywall, and grounds maintenance
  • Accessing small spaces measuring 18 inches by 18 inches
  • Ensuring mechanical equipment and systems are functioning correctly and performing repairs as needed
  • Providing excellent customer service while interacting with property managers, vendors, and customers
  • Engaging in continuous movement, including standing, walking, bending, and stretching throughout shifts
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling weights between 50 to 75 pounds
  • Creating and maintaining work orders and purchase orders
  • Completing additional maintenance-related tasks assigned by the HBM supervisor or property management
