About The Position

Camden’s Maintenance Apprentice Program introduces apprentices to daily maintenance operations at one of its communities. Apprentices work under the supervision of a maintenance supervisor and alongside the property management team, developing hands-on maintenance skills and learning residential maintenance functions, customer service strategies, community policies, and procedures. The 6–12 week program concludes with an evaluation; qualified apprentices may have the opportunity to be hired into a full-time maintenance role with Camden. The program covers maintenance safety; appliance, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repair and troubleshooting; basics of the refrigeration cycle; apartment make-readies and inspections; pool maintenance; Camden culture and management philosophy; policies and procedures; and customer service, including responding to requests and answering prospective resident questions. The role involves frequent activity and physical tasks, including intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing and pulling, climbing ladders and stairs, walking on rooftops, and lifting or carrying materials and equipment up to 50 pounds. Equipment over 50 pounds must be moved using the dolly/buddy system. Apprentices may operate small motorized equipment and power tools, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position includes public contact, and attendance and punctuality are essential.
