About The Position

This role is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing moderate to complex equipment problems. The mechanic will read blueprints, understand plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. A good understanding of the basic principles of the extrusion and production processes and materials used is required. The position involves welding and assisting in the installation, modification, and operation of production equipment, as well as performing mold changes and modifications. The role also includes following plant preventative maintenance procedures, performing data entry and analysis for the Maintenance Management System (OOPS), and adhering to plant safety/housekeeping guidelines. Compliance with SQF/HACCP requirements is also essential. The position requires the ability to work from 5:45 am to 6:00 pm, including every other weekend.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training and/or completion of the Maintenance I, Skills Assessment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to print simple sentences and legibly complete reports and time cards.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • OSHA approved forklift certification
  • Scissor/Platform lift certification/training
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Remains compliant with SQF / HACCP requirements as per this location’s written “Food Safety & Quality Policy”.
  • Must be able to work 545a- 6p, and every other weekend.
