About The Position

This role is responsible for analyzing and resolving mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment. The mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, make adjustments to ensure maximum production and quality, and manage equipment changeovers or scheduled maintenance based on the production schedule. They will also test equipment after repairs or downtime, clear jams, and set aside product for inspection. The position requires a strong understanding of various mechanical and electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electric motors, resistant welders, transformers, ARC welding, air compressors, air cylinders, air control valves and regulators.
  • Knowledge of clutches, bearings, brakes, gears, cams, pulleys, etc.
  • Knowledge of gas burners, regulators, and burner controls.
  • Knowledge of steam generators, steam controls, regulators, and heat exchangers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and takes corrective action.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for production, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.
  • Tests equipment to check operation.
  • Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework.
  • Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  • Conducts all work in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
  • May perform other duties as requested.
  • May participate on project teams as requested.
