About The Position

This role involves troubleshooting and repairing moderate to complex equipment problems. The mechanic will read blueprints, understand various systems (plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical), and grasp the basic principles of extrusion and production processes. Responsibilities include welding, assisting with equipment installation and modification, performing mold changes, and following plant preventative maintenance procedures. The position also requires data entry and analysis using the Maintenance Management System (OOPS), and adherence to plant safety, housekeeping, and food safety/quality guidelines (SQF/HACCP). The schedule requires working 5:45 AM to 6:00 PM and every other weekend.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to print simple sentences and legibly complete reports and time cards.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • OSHA approved forklift certification
  • Scissor/Platform lift certification/training

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training and/or completion of the Maintenance I, Skills Assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Follows and participates in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Remains compliant with SQF / HACCP requirements as per this location’s written “Food Safety & Quality Policy”.
  • Must be able to work 545a- 6p, and every other weekend.
