About The Position

The Mail Services Specialist 1 operates equipment that automatically addresses and weighs printed publications and ties them into bundles for mailing by ZIP code. The role involves reviewing manufacturing instructions to determine the type and size of publications scheduled for mailing, adjusting machine components and settings, and recording production and machine downtime. The specialist also processes and ships outgoing small-package parcels, including UPS, Federal Express, and DHL shipments.

Requirements

Familiarity with routine equipment operating procedures and the ability to set up and operate equipment by following a few step-by-step instructions.
Ability to perform minor clerical tasks incidental to equipment operation, such as maintaining operating and maintenance records.
Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating.
Ability to identify improper machine operation and make basic adjustments.

Responsibilities

Operate machines that address, weigh, and bundle printed publications for mailing according to ZIP code.
Review manufacturing instructions to determine the type and size of publications scheduled for mailing.
Adjust guides, rollers, the loose card inserter, weighing machine, and tying arm using a rule and hand tools.
Record production by customer name and ZIP code, and document machine downtime due to malfunctions or lack of work.
Process and ship outgoing small-package parcels, such as UPS, Federal Express, and DHL shipments.
Perform routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating equipment.
Identify improper machine operation and make basic adjustments.
