Performs a variety of duties in the routing and distribution of mail for the county government. Responsible for the pickup, sorting, processing, and distribution of all in-coming and outgoing county mail, both intra-office and via U.S. Postal Service for assigned county departments. Maintains and operates postal equipment and meters as well as maintaining records of postal usage. Picks up and delivers supplies and packages to assigned county departments. Decisions require selecting the most appropriate and cost effective delivery method, and determining disposition of improperly addressed mail. Employees assigned to one of two driving or one walking mail delivery routes. Responsible for routine daily maintenance checks of gas, oil, water, etc. for assigned county vehicle. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Building Operations Manager and is reviewed periodically for adherence to departmental policies and by overall efficiency of the mail distribution system.
