About The Position

Caterpillar is hiring a Machinist at its East Peoria Building KK facility. The role operates, sets up, and adjusts automatic lathes to perform various combinations of machining operations on miscellaneous parts. The machinist also performs close-tolerance work and manually operates vertical turret lathes and single-spindle automatic cutoff machines. Safety, quality, teamwork, and integrity are emphasized.

Requirements

• Technical school education or equivalent educational background in a mechanical or similar discipline.
• Previous CNC or machine shop experience.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

• Awareness of Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S).
• Awareness of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Responsibilities

• Execute machining operations on N/C lathes, including complex or limited combinations of operations to close tolerances.
• Manually operate vertical turret lathes.
• Adjust single-spindle automatic cutoff machines to perform cutoff and/or chamfer operations on barstock, tubing, and similar materials.
• Apply safe working methods.
