About The Position

As a Machinist at Caterpillar, Inc., you will operate, set up, and adjust automatic lathes to perform various combinations of machining operations on miscellaneous parts. At Caterpillar’s East Peoria Building KK, the team manufactures drivetrain components that help power Caterpillar machines. Safety, integrity, teamwork, and excellence are emphasized.

Requirements

• Technical school or equivalent educational background in a mechanical or similar discipline.
• Previous CNC or machine shop experience.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

• Awareness of Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S).
• Awareness of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Responsibilities

• Execute machining operations on N/C lathes, performing complex combinations of machining operations or limited combinations close to tolerance.
• Manually operate vertical turret lathes.
• Adjust single-spindle automatic cutoff machines to perform cutoff and/or chamfer operations on barstock, tubing, and similar materials.
• Apply safe working methods.
