About The Position

Caterpillar is hiring entry-level machining trainees at its East Peoria, Illinois, Building KK facility. The paid Machining Trainee program provides a learning opportunity for people interested in pursuing a machining career. Training lasts 4–6 weeks and takes place on first-shift hours, Monday through Friday. After training, positions are available on the third shift, Monday through Friday, 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The role supports production of high-precision drivetrain components used in Caterpillar machines. This is a supplemental position with a minimum of 40 hours per week and limited benefits. Relocation is not offered, and the position requires no travel.

Requirements

Previous troubleshooting and equipment repair experience with agricultural, automotive, industrial, or military equipment.
Good communication skills.
Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends.

Nice To Haves

Previous CNC training or experience.
High mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate a variety of CNC machines to produce high-precision parts.
Read blueprints and drawings to determine product dimensions and tolerances.
Verify that parts conform to specifications using measurement instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
Apply intermediate mathematics, including geometry, trigonometry, arithmetic, and conversion of fractions and decimals.
Determine feed rates and speeds and select tooling.
Work overtime when required, including weekends.
