About The Position

American Construction Metals (ACM), a strategic business unit of ABC Supply, produces metal building materials and is seeking a Machinist to join its team. The role works with a team that includes a tool and die maker, manufacturing engineers, maintenance mechanics, and machine operators. The machinist operates and maintains manufacturing equipment, plans setups, and may create or build designs when plans or prints are unavailable. The position is based in a manufacturing environment and requires compliance with assigned personal protective equipment requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED, a two-year technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude to develop products, tools, equipment, and machine designs.
Ability to meet physical demands including lifting, moving, reaching, and standing.
Excellent organizational skills and manufacturing knowledge.
Strong mathematical skills and ability to multitask.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for a full eight-hour day.
Ability to comply with assigned PPE requirements, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes.

Nice To Haves

Experience with manufacturing equipment such as punch press dies, roll formers, de-coilers, and/or flying shear cutoff dies is highly valued.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC mills, vertical milling machines, grinders, and/or lathes.
Maintain a safe work environment for oneself and associates.
Repair, sharpen, and/or troubleshoot production machinery.
Plan setups.
Create, design, and build when plans or prints are unavailable.
Interpret blueprints and schematics for tool designs, product specifications, operating instructions, machines, and/or product dimensions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
