About The Position
American Construction Metals (ACM), a strategic business unit of ABC Supply, produces metal building materials, including trim coil, edge metal, gutter systems, and other metal accessories. ACM is seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to work with maintenance mechanics, manufacturing engineers, and the sales team to collect and implement ideas for products and manufacturing methods. The role designs and creates new jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. The position is based in a 100% manufacturing setting. The associate must use assigned personal protective equipment and may encounter seasonal temperature changes, occasional exhaust fumes, dirt, dust, debris, grease, moving forklifts, and machinery pinch points. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted or up to 100 pounds with assistance, and standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and lifting throughout an eight-hour day.
Requirements
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience with machine design and development in a metal forming environment.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment, including CNC brakes, metal forming equipment, slitters, shears, punch presses, re-coilers, and de-coilers.
- Strong mathematical skills and ability to multitask.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for a full eight-hour day.
- Ability to comply with assigned personal protective equipment requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install new equipment, machines, and supporting equipment as needed.
- Ensure machines can meet product quality standards and that machine setups meet those standards.
- Develop tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Operate lathes, presses, milling machines, and grinders to cut and shape tools.
- Troubleshoot and identify machine breakdowns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
