About The Position

FMS Aerospace is seeking a mid-level Machine Shop Technician for its Huntsville office. The successful candidate will support and operate CNC milling equipment to manufacture the company’s product line, assist with equipment rack assembly, and learn to program all CNC equipment. The role includes working alongside fabrication shop technicians on manufacturing projects and receiving on-the-job training from experienced machine shop employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years of work experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver 50 pounds.
• Ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week consistently.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must currently possess or be able to receive a Department of Defense Secret clearance, if required.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate CNC milling machines.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• CAD/CAM experience.
• Ability to read and understand G-code.
• DoD or military experience.
• Technical vocation-related schooling and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work with fellow fabrication shop technicians to complete manufacturing projects while learning fabrication skills.
• Receive on-the-job training from experienced machine shop employees to gain basic knowledge of manufacturing tools and functions.
• Follow detailed instructions.
• Operate basic hand tools.
• Read shop measuring equipment accurately.
• Learn and assist with all aspects of manufacturing, progressing toward programming CNC machines.
• Support assembly functions for equipment racks.
• Support and operate CNC milling equipment to manufacture the product line.
