About The Position

The Machine Operator reads and follows detailed blueprints and schematics to bend sheets of metal. The role involves lifting metal sheets into machines to shear and bend them into bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, and ensuring each bend meets the required angle and build specifications. The operator may also operate a plasma machine and prepares completed work in the order required by the next department. The position supports Rosenbauer’s mission, vision, and values and may include other duties assigned by a supervisor to meet company needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform arithmetic using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Intermediate PC skills, including spreadsheets, formulas and functions, queries, tables, merges, and special reports; some troubleshooting is required.
• Knowledge of basic inspection tools and machining skills or related fields.
• Ability to follow safety policies and promote a safe working environment.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints and specification books.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and a tape measure.
• Ability to identify quality issues and changes in production processes and make needed adjustments.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift and manipulate large, heavy sheet-metal parts and brake-press tooling.
• Ability to identify issues with metal sheets to help meet customer expectations.

• Experience handling a brake press.

Responsibilities

• Lift metal sheets into machines to shear and bend them into bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts.
• Read and understand body prints, paper documents, and CAD.
• Ensure bends meet angle grade and other build specifications.
• Load completed work into a dedicated cart in the specified order for the next department.
• Operate the plasma machine when needed and ensure finished work meets build specifications.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by a supervisor to meet company needs.
