About The Position
Heeter Printing is a Pittsburgh employer and a single-source provider of complex print, direct mail, fulfillment, and digital marketing services to the healthcare, pharmaceutical, casino, retail, and education industries. The company has served clients for almost 75 years, investing in advanced resources, technology, and software applications to meet print and digital communication needs. Machine Operators start as Helpers, learning to set up jobs, read job tickets, and run machines through hands-on training. The role develops machine-operation and problem-solving skills, including learning to clear machine errors and address technical issues with complex machinery. Operators work one of the listed shifts: 2nd shift (3 p.m.–11 p.m.), swing shift (two weeks 7 a.m.–3 p.m. and two weeks 3 p.m.–11 p.m.), or 3rd shift (11 p.m.–7 a.m.).
Requirements
- Consistent and professional approach to work.
- Mechanical inclination and ability to learn how to operate machines.
- Mathematical skills and ability to think through measurements.
- Ability to distinguish colors and color variations.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and PC navigation.
- Ability to stand for 95% of the shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Pass a drug screen and background test.
Responsibilities
- Learn to set up jobs, read job tickets, and run machines, starting as a Helper.
- Improve machine-operation and problem-solving skills.
- Learn to clear machine errors and address technical issues with complex machinery.
- Ensure materials are staged and prepared correctly.
- Maintain a clean and safe operating area.
- Support other production areas as needed.
