About The Position

Sweetbriar, an assisted living community in Dunbar, West Virginia, is seeking a reliable Licensed Practical Nurse to provide professional and considerate care to residents during the night shift. The role involves providing basic nursing and daily living assistance while remaining patient and calm. The posting describes the work as demanding and rewarding. The starting night-shift rate is $31.00 per hour, including a shift differential.

Requirements

Proven experience as an LPN or in a similar role.
Ability to perform a variety of care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team.
Familiarity with health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures.
Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices.
Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology.
Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry.
Excellent physical condition and stamina.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion and ability to handle stress.
Successful completion of an LPN license program.

Responsibilities

Accurately record patients’ medical histories.
Take and record measurements such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate.
Observe patients receiving treatment to identify progress and medication side effects.
Monitor patients’ conditions, including fluid intake and output, and maintain patient charts.
Assist patients with necessary daily activities, such as eating and bathing.
Administer injections, prescribed medications, and enemas; clean and dress wounds; and provide other basic medical care.
Collect samples for laboratory testing as assigned.
Provide emotional and psychological support when needed.
Communicate with patients’ family members or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions.
