About The Position

Horizon Health is seeking a PRN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for day or night shifts at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, Louisiana. The role is on a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit treating adults aged 18 and older. Under the supervision and/or direction of the Staff Nurse or Charge Nurse, the LPN delivers nursing care consistent with patients’ treatment plans and maintains concise documentation for an assigned group of patients.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted LPN license.
• 1–3 years of experience.
• CPR, BLS, and ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Complete the nursing process to restore and promote patients’ health.
• Observe patients and appropriately report and record their medical and physical condition.
• Attend to patients’ personal needs, including oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, and dressing, as required.
• Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
• When needed, use approved methods to assist in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observe suicide and seclusion precautions, including requirements for physical holds and safe patient transport.
• Administer medications and/or injections as needed.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedures and processes.
• Communicate patients’ nursing and treatment needs to nonclinical staff assigned to them.
• Maintain patient dignity and respect patient values; provide emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friends in a compassionate environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
