About The Position
Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for its Medical Surgical - Ortho unit. The nurse works with a variety of patient care processes, conditions, and diagnoses, supported by leading technology and a virtual nurse team that assists floor nurses with oversight, education, documentation, and monitoring to help ensure exceptional patient care. This position is listed as full time, with day shifts of three 12-hour shifts per week. The role involves working autonomously while collaborating with teammates and anticipating the needs of patients and the care team. The successful candidate is flexible, adaptable, positive, motivated to overcome daily challenges, and demonstrates formal or informal leadership within the unit or department.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- Associate degree.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with teammates.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive approach to daily challenges.
- Demonstrated formal or informal leadership within a unit or department.
Responsibilities
- Function independently and remain accountable for utilizing the nursing process.
- Coordinate care for a group of patients with the Multidisciplinary Team.
- Delegate tasks appropriately.
- Identify hospital resources.
- Serve as a clinical resource for new employees.
- Help with electronic oversight.
- Assist the primary nurse with chart review, patient education, and coordination of care.
- Assist with delegated communications with the care team and families.
